Barley a sole around

Largely a woodland run with some nice ups and downs and scenic views. Even more if you go off route in a few choice places, for the more adventurous out there. Enjoy reconnecting with nature!

Opened in 2013 by Sir David Attenborough, and built on top of a landfill site, the Thurrock Nature Park is currently 120 acres and hosts a variety of wildlife, woodlands, ponds and marshlands. A network of pathways makes running here a wonderful experience with brilliant views across the Thames.

A vast expanse of mudflats, salt marshes, and a seawall, situated along the eastern bank of the River Thames. A small beach with excellent views across the river with a good selection of wildlife.

Built in the 1970s/1980s alongside other flood defences to protect Canvey Island. Refurbished in 2012. Depending on the weather, footpaths can be quite boggy but offer stunning views across Vange Creek.

Blink and you will miss it, but Fobbing village sits in one of seven conservation areas in Thurrock and has brilliant views over the salt marsh. St. Michael's Church is renowned for its historic association with the smuggling trade. Smugglers sailed up Fobbing Creek, guided by the distinctive church tower.
