A wild and isolated mountain pass, a perfect destination for those looking for an adventurous day of mountain biking, perhaps with plenty of moments where you carry your bike on your shoulders during the climb. However, for those with solid experience looking for a daring descent, this is a great option. Arriving at the pass, you benefit from an excellent view of the Mont Blanc range, as well as the rocky peaks which rise above you.

Although Lake Émosson is a human creation, it is still a magnificent sight and worth the detour. The surrounding area is full of dinosaur footprints, so be sure to keep a watchful eye out for any tyrannosaurs that might also be roaming around. The eastern shore of the lake offers a perfect view of the Aiguille Verte, a truly magnificent mountain, and the largest mountain located solely in France.

A wild mountain pass, located high above the village of Finhaut, below the peaks of Dent de Fenestral and Fontanabran. The pass itself is gentler than its counterparts in the region, with open pastures and grass all around, but still offers spectacular views and some exposure into the surrounding area. The pass is a great opportunity to glimpse the local flora and fauna while hiking the winding alpine trails that connect this pass.

The pass is connected to winding and wild trails, providing interesting running terrain with a real mountain feel. The pass is quite remote and shady, so snow can persist into the summer months. Keep this in mind when planning your adventures!

It was a very hot day. I was barely making any progress. The path led with a slow increase in altitude on the asphalt road along the lower Lac d'Emosson reservoir to the approximately 300 m higher Lac du Vieux Emosson reservoir. Impressive dams held back the accumulated water. Time and time again I am amazed at the skill and knowledge of the engineers and workers who create such large facilities. At that time, major earthworks were still being carried out and a lot of heavy equipment was in motion.

Just around the corner from Lac d'Émosson, you'll find Lac du Vieux Émosson, which is smaller than the big lake, but just as beautiful. The lake also has a very impressive dam to admire and turquoise waters. Again, you'll find more dinosaur footprints here, keep your eyes peeled!
