The fact that they are attributed to the Middle Neolithic does not in any way rule out a presence that could go back to the Bronze Age. With a length of 7.30 m and a weight of around 30 tons, the large menhir is the most impressive in the whole of eastern France.

A set of seven menhirs that are about 5,000 years old and were erected by the Neolithic civilization. Later, the Gauls dedicated this place to Epogne, the goddess of horsemen. The highest is 7.35 meters.

Beautiful point, but find a good route to get there, it can be very muddy and slippery through the forest in a wet season.

The Château de Couches is a magnificent castle restored with love, which can be visited and where you can spend a stay or take advantage of the free visits. The superb Burgundian-style tiles are particularly noteworthy.

this medieval castle is located at the entrance of Couches (meaning Chalon sur Saône / Autun) it would have been the prison where Marguerite of Burgundy, queen of France and wife of Louis le Hutin would have been imprisoned following the affair of the tower of Nesle in Paris around 1315. the Château can be visited and is really worth a detour for those interested in history.
