Cozy and beautiful historic town, can be very busy on weekends

Mirepoix is one of the most famous bastide towns in the south of France, primarily because of its half-timbered houses and galleries. The central square is surrounded on all sides by wooden roofs under the first floors of the houses, making it a well-preserved medieval town.

A very nice cafe where you can stop for a coffee or a soda. You can also eat a little something to regain energy.

Mirepoix is a place well worth seeing, with a town center full of half-timbered houses with rows of shops. It's very busy when it's market day! You can see more of the beautiful houses without the market.

The Tabariane Necropolis is a significant Iron Age archaeological site. This ancient cemetery reveals unique funerary practices with cremation tombs. The excavations brought to light funerary objects which illustrate the craftsmanship and beliefs of the time.

Labeled a city of art and history, the city of Mirepoix is an ancient Cathar town. It is known, among other things, for its superb house of consuls as well as its beautiful Saint-Maurice cathedral.

This superb so-called semi-rock church has three levels. These Romanesque frescoes and its troglodyte appearance give this 10th century religious building a special place. The place is more splendid.
