Lac de Bretaye is a peaceful high-altitude lake nestled at 1,800 meters in the Vaud Alps. Surrounded by meadows and gentle peaks, it's an ideal spot for a quiet break, a picnic, or simply admiring the scenery. Easily accessible from Villars-sur-Ollon on foot or by cogwheel train, it offers a beautiful interlude in the heart of the mountains.

I will have to go back for the view, because the fog did not allow me any panorama, except to come face to face with the ibex, as surprised as I was, at the corner of the chairlift structure, at the summit! What a wonderful memory, before a descent made perilous because slippery due to the rain and fog!

The view on both sides of the valley, from the summit, is worth the effort of climbing it, which is an intense effort ... nature is so beautiful, between rocks and mountain pastures, and the path steep but never dangerous! Visit Lac des Chavonnes for a quiet alpine getaway, where you’ll find a crystal-clear lake surrounded by dense forest and mountain peaks. Located approximately 1,690 meters above sea level, this hidden lake offers hiking trails that wind through pine trees and lead to breathtaking viewpoints. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including marmots and alpine birds, which add to the lake’s serene, natural beauty.

From the flowery meadows in spring, we have a beautiful view of the Mont d'Or, a summit of the Vaudois Prealps culminating at 2,174 meters above sea level.

From the summit, at 2351 m, we admire a 360 degree view with Les Diablerets to the south, Lake Lioson to the north, the Col des Mosses to the west. Previously you could go to the summit by cable car.
