The hike down along the Ardeche is well worth seeing. The path is quite challenging in several sections. In some places there are poles mounted on the wall that you have to hold on to while you climb along the smooth rock face in foot-sized steps. At one point you have to climb a "chicken ladder" that is about 6 m high. Some sections are wet and a bit slippery even in dry weather. Conclusion: expect the walk to take significantly longer.
