Donnersporten was probably built in the early 19th century. It stands where the former ring wall stood between about 1250 and the end of the 18th century. The gate is often incorrectly called “Stora Strandporten”.

The Chapter House is an old medieval house, the ground floor of which was built in the early 13th century. The chapter house is a large room or house where the government assembly (the chapter) meets. In the Middle Ages, the farm was the residence of the Bishop of Linköping on Gotland (Gotland was then part of the Linköping diocese) and was first mentioned as such in 1432. The bishop visited the island every three years and then meetings, the so-called capitulum, were held here with the island's priests. Behind the house there is a medieval herb garden, which is modeled on medieval monastery gardens. Today the complex is used as a summer restaurant, the "Restaurang Kapitelhusgården".
