The Wilhelmsglücksbrunn Abbey Estate is a beautiful place for a break along the Werra Castle Trail. The well-maintained historic grounds offer a hotel, farm shop, and cafeteria. 👍 All organic.

I've ridden over several times on my e-bike. Heading towards Eisenach, or from there, or coming from the Ringgau region, heading home towards Witzenhausen. So far, anyway, it's always been beautiful. 😎🚴🏾♀️🚴🏾♀️ Will it stay that way? 🤔

Ideal hiking parking lot for tours around Creuzburg. The parking spaces are partly shaded under trees. Covered information boards show hiking and cycling trails and places of interest. Tables and benches are available for a break after the hike. The Werra Bridge and Liborius Chapel are right next door, and short paths lead from here to Creuzburg and the Gottesackerkirche. The top Creuzburg hiking trail is recommended: around 6-7 km lead through the Ebenauer Köpfe and Wisch nature reserves to the Gottesackerkirche and Creuzburg. And for Touringen stamp collectors, there are 4 stamps to collect on the circular trail.

The old listed Werra Bridge is made of natural stone masonry. Yellow sandstone and limestone from local quarries were used as building materials. Due to the risk of collapse due to poor maintenance and increasing traffic load, a new bridge for vehicle traffic was built in 1986. The old natural stone bridge was repaired in 1992/93, which was largely true to the original.

If you hike the P6 clockwise (recommended direction) you will reach the former border and column path after the first steep climb. As depressing as the memory of the former inner-German border division is, this section of the trail is just as fascinating in terms of the natural beauty along the trail in every season. You can relax here, gather strength for the further ascent and enjoy the beautiful distant view of the Thuringian Forest.
