If you could talk, the old Werra Bridge would be able to tell a lot of history. Some sad, but also one or the other very funny.

The castle was built from 1165 to 1170 on behalf of Landgrave Ludwig II - according to tradition at the site of an older fortified monastery complex, to whose replacement about 1173 the St. Jacob's Monastery was donated.
