Unfortunately, the church in Tiefenort is only open during the summer months and is closed from Thanksgiving until the following spring.

If you show a little curiosity, you will be lucky and will be "noticed" and the church will be opened. Inside, you will be surprised by the power and beauty.

The Protestant St. Peter's Church with its mighty tower is a special landmark of Tiefenort. It was first mentioned in a document in 1137. Initially there was a chapel with a cemetery. In 1340 the patronage of St. Peter was mentioned and after the Reformation extensions were made in 1521, 1530 and 1630. The impressive crowning of the tower dates from 1777. We found the church open, which is also worth seeing from the inside.

We have already cycled on many cycle paths and for us the Werra cycle path is one of the most beautiful.

It's still 200 meters from the Touringen Stamp to the Frankensteinblick. The view is very nice and takes advantage of a nice line of sight in the forest. 👌
