After standing here on Beckersrain for 200 years, the drinking fountain from the 17th century, opposite the street, was moved to the ice field because there was often overflowing water around it, which led to mud in summer and ice in winter. It stood there for more than 100 years until it was brought back here after reunification and as part of the square design and street widening. The Oechsenbahn cycle path - recently also called the Embergradweg - begins in Wenigentaft, right on the state border between Hesse and Thuringia, and follows the route of the former Oechsenbahn via Buttlar and Bermbach to the long-gone potash shafts in Oechsen (Niederoechsen). The old railway line was shut down in 1952 and dismantled in 1953. On the now paved route you overcome almost 200 meters in altitude over a distance of approx. 10 km (maximum 3% incline) in a scenic environment.

Worth mentioning is the valuable late Gothic winged altar from 1491, a rectangular, stone sacrificial box from 1517 and a baptismal font with late Gothic tracery from 1527. In recent years, extensive renovation work has been carried out on the entire exterior facade. In the meantime, the renovation work has also been completed in the interior of the church, where, among other things, old wall paintings that had been whitewashed several times have now been exposed again. The Geisa Castle was built under Prince Abbot Adalbert von Schleifras on old foundation walls and vaults to the left of the former district court under the direction of the well-known Fulda master builder Johann Dientzenhofer. It served as a hunting lodge and summer residence for the Fulda prince abbots and prince-bishops. The coat of arms of Adalbert von Schleifras can be seen above the wide portal.
