The Barigauer Tower is an observation tower on the Barigauer Höhe near Barigau, a district of Königsee in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district of Thuringia. Built in 1912, it offers impressive panoramic views of the region from a height of 664.6 meters. On a clear day, you can see over 43 villages, towns, and famous mountain peaks from here, including the Schneekopf near Ilmenau and the Leuchtenburg Castle in Kahla. Next to the tower, there is a restaurant that welcomes hikers and visitors.

The Schweizerhaus is finally open again, how nice. I can't say how many times I hiked here with my parents. At that time the Kremser drove through the beautiful Schwarzatal. One can only wish the new operators a lot of strength, because all around there is still a lot to do. But the food is very tasty and freshly prepared, the price is right and the staff is very nice. When it's busy you have to wait a little longer, but that's also communicated. We felt good.

The Schweizerhaus reopened at the end of May 2022 under new management. Current opening times 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. I wish the new owners every success. My first impression was very positive. The food was delicious and the prices are reasonable too. Winter break until March 1st, 2023
