The church holds profound historical significance as the world's first and only church dedicated to Blessed Michael Sopocko. Its construction began in 1936 but was delayed by World War II and subsequent occupations, during which it served various secular purposes. Blessed Michael Sopocko himself found refuge in Juodšiliai between 1942 and 1944, hiding from German forces while continuing his pastoral work and writing on Divine Mercy. The church's eventual consecration in 2016, after extensive community efforts to rebuild it following a fire, marks a triumph of faith and perseverance.
