    Una parte protetta del bacino di circa cinque ettari viene utilizzata in modo speciale per proteggere la natura e il paesaggio ed esclusivamente per promuovere e curare la natura. La restante superficie con una decina di ettari, un percorso circolare e strutture accessorie è utilizzata dalle persone per attività di svago e relax. L'Haunestausee è un'oasi di pace e relax.

    Il bacino può essere circondato ed esplorato su splendidi sentieri lastricati. Una grossa diga trattiene l'acqua ed è progettata per regolare grandi quantità di pioggia. Abbiamo notato che c'erano molti aironi cenerini nella riserva naturale quando improvvisamente circa 20 di loro sono decollati dall'area della banca e sono decollati in aria. Insieme alla stazione di birdwatching un luogo interessante per gli amanti della natura.
