    Le rovine del castello sommitale sorgono sull'omonimo vulcano spento Vetzberg. Il castello superiore del castello in cima alla collina con il mastio fu costruito probabilmente nella prima metà del XII secolo. Fu menzionato per la prima volta in un documento nel 1150. Nel 1226 fu poi annunciato come Vogtisberg. Questa denominazione, da cui deriva il nome attuale, significa che il castello era un secondo castello dei Conti di Gleiberg ed era occupato dai loro ufficiali giudiziari. Dalla metà del XIII secolo il complesso fu ampliato con la costruzione del castello inferiore.

    Si tratta di un rudere che in realtà è costituito solo dalla torre visibile da lontano e da piccoli resti della cinta muraria.
    Non è rimasto molto, ma ne vale la pena a causa della vista a 360 gradi.
    Da febbraio 2016 il mastio è messo in sicurezza con rete e cinghie di tensionamento perché alcuni sassi si erano staccati dalla muratura. L'accesso alla torre è temporaneamente non possibile a causa della sua imminente ristrutturazione. Settembre 2017 ancora così.
