    Il castello fu costruito nell'XI secolo dai signori di Schlanstedt per proteggere il passaggio sul Große Bruch e fu menzionato per la prima volta nel 1267. All'inizio del XIV secolo, sotto la guida del vescovo conte Albrecht di Wernigerode, la diocesi di Halberstadt acquistò il castello dalla famiglia Regenstein per 600 marchi di Brunswick. Seguì la trasformazione del castello rotondo in una tenuta con tavolo da parte dei vescovi di Halberstadt. Tra il 1610 e il 1620 il castello interno fu nuovamente ricostruito e dalla fortezza medievale fu ricavato un palazzo rinascimentale, giunto fino a noi.

    Nel frattempo, può essere "visitato" solo dall'esterno: un cancello di legno chiuso a chiave e retrofittato protegge da visitatori indesiderati e interessati! Puoi solo intravedere il cortile interno e camminare su e giù davanti alla facciata. Peccato! Non vale davvero il viaggio per questo francobollo!
