    La Judenplatz à Vienne avec le mémorial des victimes du national-socialisme est un endroit plutôt calme qui est rarement visité par les touristes. Un très bel ensemble de maisons et le musée juif ainsi que le monument Lessing et le musée Judenplatz complètent la place. Tout autour de belles ruelles et passages plutôt calmes.

    Le lieu central du souvenir sur la Judenplatz est le mémorial de la Shoah de Rachel Whiteread. Les noms des lieux où les Juifs autrichiens sont morts pendant le régime nazi sont enregistrés sur des carreaux de sol incrustés autour du mémorial.
    Le mémorial représente une bibliothèque tournée vers l'extérieur et hermétiquement fermée.Les étagères du mémorial sont remplies d'un nombre apparemment infini d'éditions d'un seul et même livre, représentant le grand nombre de victimes et leurs histoires de vie. Le contenu des livres reste caché. Les portes battantes, qui indiquent la possibilité d'aller et venir, ne peuvent pas être ouvertes.
