    L'église du marché d'Essen, Gertrudiskirche jusqu'à la fin du 19e siècle, est située au centre-ville d'Essen sur le marché, l'ancienne place du marché d'Essen, qui était autrefois le centre économique, politique et religieux de la ville. L'église-halle d'origine romane, partiellement reconstruite dans le style gothique tardif, fut la première église protestante d'Essen.
