Après l'incendie de la ville de 1834, au cours duquel environ les trois quarts de la ville ont été détruits, Reichenhall a été généreusement reconstruit. Dans la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle, une station thermale a été créée dans la ville, pour laquelle les sources de saumure étaient également extrêmement importantes.
