    O Porto do Barqueiro doit son nom à un vieux batelier qui faisait passer des passagers entre ce port et O Vicedo jusqu'à la construction d'un pont métallique au début du XXe siècle. Ce village de pêcheurs est traditionnellement un pêcheur de sardines, bien que de nos jours la pêche aux crustacés joue également un rôle majeur dans son économie.
