Venez tôt le matin ou tard dans l'après-midi.
La gorge elle-même est magnifique, mais à l'"heure de pointe" habituelle les touristes sont embarqués en bus et la visite n'est plus amusante...

    Foire aux questions

What is the typical duration for walking through Vintgar Gorge?

Most visitors spend between 1.5 to 2 hours traversing the gorge and returning. The main path through the gorge is approximately 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) long. While the walk itself is relatively short, the stunning scenery encourages frequent stops for photos and appreciation.

Is Vintgar Gorge suitable for families with young children?

Yes, Vintgar Gorge is generally considered very family-friendly. The well-maintained wooden walkways and bridges make for an easy and safe walk. It's suitable for children of all ages, though strollers might be challenging on some sections due to stairs and narrow paths. Carriers for very young children are recommended.

Can I bring my dog to Vintgar Gorge?

Yes, dogs are permitted in Vintgar Gorge, but they must be kept on a leash at all times. Given the popularity and often crowded nature of the walkways, especially during peak season, ensure your dog is comfortable in busy environments and that you clean up after them.

Is Vintgar Gorge accessible for wheelchairs or those with limited mobility?

Unfortunately, Vintgar Gorge is not wheelchair-friendly. The path includes numerous wooden walkways, bridges, and some stairs, making it unsuitable for wheelchairs or those who cannot navigate uneven surfaces and steps. The terrain is generally easy but requires a degree of mobility.

What are the parking options and fees at Vintgar Gorge?

There are several parking lots available near the entrance to Vintgar Gorge. Parking fees typically apply and can vary. It's highly recommended to arrive early in the morning, especially during peak season (summer), as parking spaces fill up quickly. Some parking areas may offer shuttle services to the gorge entrance.

How can I get to Vintgar Gorge using public transport from Bled?

From Bled, you can reach Vintgar Gorge via various public transport options. E-buses often run between Bled and the gorge entrance during the tourist season. Alternatively, cycling is a popular and scenic option, or you can take a taxi. Check local schedules for the most up-to-date information on bus services.

Are there any cafes or restaurants near the Vintgar Gorge entrance?

Yes, there are usually a few cafes and small eateries located near the entrance and exit points of Vintgar Gorge. These offer refreshments, snacks, and sometimes light meals, perfect for a break before or after your walk. It's always a good idea to carry some water, especially on warmer days.

What should I wear for a hike through Vintgar Gorge?

Comfortable walking shoes with good grip are essential, as the wooden walkways can sometimes be damp or slippery. Dress in layers, as the gorge's microclimate can be cooler than the surrounding area, and weather conditions can change. A light rain jacket is also advisable, especially during spring and autumn.

Is Vintgar Gorge open during winter, and what are the conditions like?

Vintgar Gorge is typically closed during the winter months (usually from late October/early November to late March/early April) due to safety concerns regarding ice and snow on the walkways. Always check the official Vintgar Gorge website for exact opening and closing dates before planning a winter visit.

What kind of wildlife can be seen in Vintgar Gorge?

Vintgar Gorge's unique microclimates support a diverse ecosystem. While large animals are rarely seen, you might spot various bird species, insects, and amphibians. The pristine waters of the Radovna River are home to numerous fish species, and the gorge's distinct flora includes over 600 plant species, some of which are rare or endangered.

Are there any circular routes or alternative paths to explore around Vintgar Gorge?

Yes, while the gorge itself is a linear path, there are well-marked circular routes that allow you to return to your starting point without retracing your steps through the gorge. These routes often lead through the surrounding forests and offer different perspectives of the area, sometimes including views of Bled Castle. Check local signage or hiking apps for detailed circular route options.

How does Vintgar Gorge compare to Tolmin Gorge?

Both Vintgar and Tolmin Gorges are stunning natural attractions in Slovenia, but they offer different experiences. Vintgar Gorge is known for its iconic wooden walkways directly over the Radovna River, leading to the impressive Šum Waterfall, making it very accessible and popular. Tolmin Gorge, located in the Triglav National Park's lowest point, features a more rugged, wilder feel with deeper canyons, thermal springs, and the confluence of two rivers. Vintgar is generally considered easier and more polished for tourists, while Tolmin offers a more adventurous, less crowded experience with more elevation changes.
