    La estación, inaugurada el 19 de mayo de 1867, se creó con la construcción del ferrocarril Altona-Blankeneser. Originalmente fue una estación para el tráfico de pasajeros y mercancías. La estación se puso en funcionamiento inicialmente como vía única. De 1894 a 1898 la línea fue de doble vía.
    El tramo Blankenese-Klein Flottbek se puso en funcionamiento en 1895, seguido del tramo Klein Flottbek-Altona en 1897. La electrificación tuvo lugar a partir de 1903, y en enero de 1908 el ferrocarril urbano y suburbano de Hamburgo-Altona funcionó electrificado aquí y en toda la ruta a Blankenese y sin pasos a nivel.
