La autoridad eclesiástica intermedia era el archidiácono de Karlstadt.
En 1167 las iglesias y capillas de Altengronau, Gundhelm, Hohenzell, Mottgers, Oberkalbach, Steckelberg, Steinbach, Sterbfritz, Zeitlofs y Züntersbach pertenecían a la parroquia de Ramholz. En 1354, la parroquia se incorporó a la abadía de Schluechtern, que ya había recibido el patrocinio de la iglesia en 1039 como regalo de la abadía de Fulda.
