Running between Waverly Road and Old Town, the Lansing River Trail offers 20 miles of paved trail access to many parks, natural areas, and the downtown area.

The South Lansing Pathway connects with the Lansing River Trail at both ends, letting you ride a grand circuit. It's also a lot less traveled, so you won't have to pay as much attention to crowds.

This riverfront park draws more than three million walkers, bikers and picnickers every year. It's filled with green spaces and makes a great link for visiting businesses along Detroit's waterfront, or a relaxed, traffic-free ride to access Belle Island.

You'll have to hop off your bike to go all the way into this waterside picnic area, which overlooks the watery boundary between Canada (which wraps around to your south, thanks to the shape of Michigan's "mitten") and Detroit, which is just to your north.

The Lakeshore Trail is a really popular paved path following Lakeshore Drive. Being away from car traffic, the trail is a great choice for a bike ride and offers views of the coast and the wetland areas on the eastern side of the highway.

I have been riding this trail for several years now and it is great. This trail is a straight shot from Comstock Park to Cadillac aprox. 100 miles. It is currently paved as of this date I'm writing this from Comstock Park to aprox. 3 miles beyond Howard City. Paved trail again from Big Rapids to Cadillac. There are many great stops along the route for food and scenic views. Rockford is very beautiful, waterfall, small shops scenic park. freshly paved from Spring Lake just beyond Howard City. They are still working on the final paving between Howard City and Big Rapids. Reed City is a crossroad of the White Pine and the Pere Marquette Trail which runs all the way to Clair and Midland. All paved but rough in spots. If you enjoy long distance cycling like I do these are great Trails. There are many more great railtrails in Michigan. Endulge yourself on them.
