Longmont Reservoir is located just east of Button Rock Preserve and down creek from Button Rock Dam. The dam controls water flowing down from Ralph Price Reservoir. This is a much lesser visited body of water compared to the more secluded Ralph Price Reservoir at the end of the dirt service road.

Button Rock Dam overlooks the Ralph Price (Button Rock) Reservoir and the Button Rock Preserve. This walk-in only preserve is a unique experience for visitors, with plenty of trails that offer a close up look at water management facilities and plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities. While you can fish in the reservoir, there is no swimming or dogs allowed to help protect the reservoir.

Right off the popular Picture Rock Trail is an old, vintage, rusted out green car. This 1930s (!) car is somewhat of a local landmark and a fun place to stop and snap a photo or two before continuing on your hike.

The Ron Stewart Preserve at Rabbit Mountain (formerly Rabbit Mountain Open Space) is the easternmost Boulder County public park. The 5,000 acres park offers panoramic views of the majestic Rocky Mountains and Great Plains along its three primary day-use trails. The Little Thompson Overlook Trail is a moderate 1.5-mile uphill run, treating you to stunning panoramic vistas at its peak. If you are not looking for much elevation gain, the 2.2-mile Indian Mesa Trail or the gentle 2-mile Eagle Wind Trail are great options. Be mindful of the sun's exposure, as the area is primarily grass and scrubland, offering minimal tree coverage.

The trail is fantastic flowing dirt singletrack that winds through trees, fields, and rocky outcroppings.

The Hall Ranch Trailhead is the main access point for the popular Hall Ranch Open Space. There are over fifty parking spots across two lots, restrooms, picnic tables, a 50 person group shelter, and three horse trailer spots. Hall Ranch itself is a beautiful open space with rolling grasslands, sandstone buttes, and several popular trails for runners, hikers, and mountain bikers.

The Corral Trailhead is right off of Lefthand Canyon Drive and is the southernmost trailhead and access point for Heil Valley Ranch. Although it is not the biggest trailhead and parking area (there are 19 parking spots, 4 horse trailer and/or bus spots, a restroom, and a picnic table), right next to the trailhead is an old corral left over from when this site was a working ranch. This is a fun place to explore and get a glimpse into the ranching history of Colorado.
