One of the most beautiful towns in France, located on the banks of the Nivelle River. It is a typical village in the French Basque Country, a small place full of pretty half-timbered houses and red and green shutters. The perfect example of local architecture. It emerged as a supply and lodging place for the Camino de Santiago and has numerous hiking routes in the surrounding area.

The Pas de Roland is a gorge dug by the Nive on the outskirts of Itxassou en Labourd. Located at the bottom of the gorge, the path runs along beautiful cliffs in a remarkable mineral setting. The road follows the river, in the Basque hinterland in a pleasant and bucolic atmosphere.
