Headed out to Hemel then took the Nickey Line, which was very muddy in parts. Linked up with the greenways into Luton then out into the country Lanes of the Chilterns. Found a very steep hill out the back of Chesham. I had only ever been into Luton once at night about 25 years ago to watch a friend play for Hull City v Luton Town at Kenilworth Road. Glimpsed the stadium today. It’s a strange town.

Waited out most of the morning rain before heading out on a ride that took me to Aldbury with a nice tailwind, therefore a bit of a slog back to home. Resisted temptation to stop for a coffee. Some very slushy potholed country lanes full of debris from the hedge trimmers - perfect 🇬🇧 gravel conditions 😁👍

Broke a spoke on the Mtb last weekend, so back on the gravel bike despite the summer tyres. A good thing as the trails are just slush. Enjoyed carrying a bit more speed. Mist clung to the hills, but cleared on the flats. Saw a little girl in wet weather overalls ploughing through puddles on her tiny bike, just loving it. Biking rules.

Did this event last year and really enjoyed the course, but it was so foggy I didn’t see the views. Again it started foggy and rainy, but after a while the mist cleared and the sun even popped out for a bit. Lots of slushy bridleways, rough country lanes and some nice fast descents made for another fun day out.

Finally outside after several Rouvy workouts on the trainer. Did the 3rd and final one of these local routes to tick the box as complete. I felt like sticking mainly to hard surfaces after the rain. Toes got very cold for some reason.

Claggy day, but the lack of any wind made it nice for riding. The new Missenden greenway allows access to Cobblershill from the east and it’s 20% going up before going down the muddy bridleway.
