Alain Rumpf (A Swiss With A Pulse)

Hi! I live in Gryon, a village in the Swiss Alps with my wife Lillie and our son Ben. I have been riding my bike in Switzerland and beyond since I was 12.

In previous chapters of my life, I was a mediocre elite racer and worked 20 years for the UCI, the world’s cycling governing body.

10 years ago, I lost my job. Thrown out of the window of the corporate world, I somehow managed to resist the temptation to go back through another door. Instead I ended up as a professional bike bum: an ambitious career change that sees me work as a photographer, writer, bike guide and cycling tourism consultant for brands, media and destinations.

When I was younger, I wanted to change the world. Now I'm just trying to help fellow humans leave their screens and get out in nature to do things they love, challenge themselves and discover new places.
