    Die Kapelle ist 1894 im neugotischen Stil auf dem Fundament des Schlossverlieses gebaut worden. Die Statue des hl. Leo IX steht an der Fassade und im Inneren sind Reliquien des heiligen Leons aufbewahrt.

    Kapelle war bei unserem Besuch nicht zugänglich.
    Auf dem gemütlichen Platz konnten wir Bruno van Eguisheim treffen. Es befindet sich in der Mitte des Rahmens des Brunnens. Er wurde 1049 unter dem Namen Leo IX. zum Papst ernannt und ist besser bekannt als der reisende Papst. Versöhnlich reiste er für die Wiederherstellung der Kirche durch das mittelalterliche Europa.

    Die Sankt-Leo-Kapelle wurde an der Stelle, wo einst der Bergfried stand, im neuromanischen Stil erbaut, sie wurde 1894 geweiht und dem Heiligen Leo gewidmet. Im Innern wurden von Martin auf das Gewölbe Medaillons im Stil des 11. Jahrhunderts gemalt, die 7 Szenen aus dem Leben des Heiligen Leo darstellen, während die Fenster von 1895 die Heiligen des Elsass versinnbildlichen, von denen viele aus der Familie der Grafen von Eguisheim stammen.
