    Im Jahr 1420 erwarb die Zisterzienserabtei Mariënrode ein Grundstück zum Bau einer Wassermühle am Fluss Velpe. Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts – Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts entstand schließlich die große, malerische Mühle. Das Rad fängt das Wasser von unten auf und ist somit ein unterschlächtiges Rad. Aus den Unterlagen geht hervor, dass die Mühle im Jahr 1920 75.000 kg Getreide gemahlen hat. Sie wurde bis 1961 betrieben, verfügt aber noch immer über sämtliche Rechte, erneut eine Mühle zu eröffnen. Die Mühle ist seit fast 200 Jahren im Besitz der Familie Van den Hove-d'Ertsenrijck.
