Burg Ramstein wurde Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts durch die Herren von Windstein erbaut. Nach ihrer Verwüstung im Jahre 1335 wurde nicht wieder aufgebaut.
Der Buntsandsteinfels erstreckt sich auf einer Länge von ca. 270 Meter und ist an den breitesten Stellen nur ca. 6 Meter breit. Die Anlage hat zahlreiche Felsentreppen und Felsenkammern und erstreckt sich über mehrere Etagen.
Von der Aussichtsplattform am Wohnbau hat man einen herrlichen Blick auf das Umland.
