On a sunny winter's day, we hikers in time hiked over the Rennsteig and the Neuhöfer Wiese to the Jahnhütte to spend a wonderful evening there together! It went through snow-covered forests and over snow-covered meadows. A dream of winter!

That was a very nice circular hike through the colorful autumn. The starting point was the Knüllfeld above Steinbach-Hallenberg, then we went to the Ruppberg, the local mountain of Zella-Mehlis. This is a mountain cone from which you have a 360-degree all-round view, from the Rennsteig, over the Grabfeld

During a leisurely stroll one can discover the 52ha landscape park with ancient trees, the secured ruins of the 17th century castle, the orangery with an impressive café, the rose temple and the Maria island in the big pond.
A very beautiful area, which is very well maintained and the evening colored lighting should be a poem.

The Jahnhütte on the Neuhöfer Wiese is one of the huts that are open all year round on weekends and even offer overnight stays. We took advantage of that and spent a wonderful weekend with 17 people.
