The final stretch. After a few days of #clientwalking under an umbrella, the sun is finally in the forecast today: a chance to visit the last five countries of my Munich world tour!

Snow is forecast again from midday onwards, so I'm setting off early to arrive in Ukraine dry.



I will stay dry, but it's cold, and apart from the Hirschgarten park and the Nymphenburg Canal, there's hardly any greenery – it's about time this winter hiking challenge came to an end.



But first, I'm walking

The hike to Tunisia, at least the first part through the English Garden, is also amidst lush greenery. Although today, the green is more like white: it snowed a little overnight, everything is dusted with snow, and in places, quite slippery. Today's hike is a real treat: from Höllriegelskreuth to the Czech Republic along the northern edge of the English Garden. Twenty kilometers along the Isar River, always surrounded by greenery, without a single intersection or traffic light to cross. Munich can be this beautiful.



Just before the consulate

The 900-kilometer mark of my Mega Challenge this year awaits just before Togo. But before I get there, I want to visit Spain, South Africa, and Thailand.



I start at Goetheplatz. I cross the city center and follow the Isar River to reach Spain on the northern bank of the Isar in Bogenhausen. Classic EU

Sierra Leone has its headquarters far to the south in the upscale Munich suburb of Grünwald: a 15-kilometer walk straight through the Perlach Forest. Luckily, it's now ice-free. I have a lot to do today, so I set off early to combine a 10-kilometer hike with a visit to the next consulate on my list: Serbia's.



I start in Lehel, then head towards the Isar River, past the Angel of Peace to Böhmerwaldplatz in Bogenhausen. The Serbian consulate is easy to find there, marked with a

The route from Markt Schwaben near San Marino to Sweden in the city center leads straight along the Simbach railway line, past the Poing Wildlife Park, Heimstetten Lake, and the Feldkirchen bypass – all beautiful hiking destinations for better weather.



Although the weather is perfect for hiking: no more

The smaller the country, the farther away the consulate: San Marino has only about the same number of inhabitants as a small Munich district, yet it has its own consulate for Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. This consulate is tucked away east of Markt Schwaben, almost in the Erding Moor.



However, it's easy

One of the rules of my Munich world tour is to always pick up where the last one left off. So, in this case, from Tutzing back to Munich, just under 45 kilometers to Romania, the next consulate on the list.
