We left Ratzeburg this morning under rather cloudy skies. Along the shores of Lake Ratzeburg, we first headed through the forest on challenging paths: cobblestones with steep inclines, uneven singletrack... Definitely great for hiking, but a bit unsuitable for touring bikes 😅.

Since we had tickets for the Schlossspiele (The Merry Widow) for tonight and also a voucher for a boat trip on the Schwerin lakes, we decided not to go on a proper bike ride today, but rather just drive into Schwerin and look around a bit. And we would have missed out on a lot of beautiful things

Today we continued from Wismar to Schwerin. In the village of Mecklenburg, we met a dear friend of mine from back then, who knows the area like the back of his hand and happily took on the role of our guide 😁.
He also knew the Prignitz fish smokehouse – a very idyllic spot on the upper Lake Schwerin

On to the last stage: this morning we cycled from our hotel in Utrecht back to the Oudegracht and from there we cycled almost non-stop along the water. It was sooo beautiful 😍. We took a coffee break in Loenen today. Shortly before Amsterdam we had to use our muscles again as we had to change sides
