If you are ever in the area, you should not miss a hike to the "King of the Bavarian Forest", the second largest mountain in the Bavarian Forest. Admittedly, the route is peppered with a few meters of altitude. These are more than sweetened for you by the impressive Riesloch Falls.

On this demanding day tour you hike from Buchenau up to several shafts. Cattle grazed on these forest-free areas earlier in summer - the individual large trees provided both shade and protection from storms.
