The fourth tour was very strenuous, both ascent and descent. At the Eisjöchl pass, the views in both directions were breathtaking. We even witnessed an accident involving a mountain biker. Down at the Lazinser Alm, it was time to relax.

Today we had to change our tour out of necessity. In 2024, there was a landslide between Tumlhof and Nassreidhof. This made the Merano High Trail impassable. Since rocks are still falling there, they decided to build a gallery this year. So we took a taxi to Jägerhof. From there, it was a 1.5-hour walk

Today we went from Giggelberg to St. Katharienburg in the Schnalstal Valley. We stayed at a quaint old farmhouse. The hike was 80% in the sun, which was a real sweat.

The second part, up to our Giggelberg Inn, was more pleasant, with its ups and downs. Rest stops along the trail are plentiful and open. But the remaining kilometers dragged on. We didn't arrive at the inn until 7 p.m. We received a very friendly welcome. The food was very tasty.

We plan to hike the Merano High Trail in six days. We start with the Hochmut cable car in Tirolo. Trail 24 is well signposted. Down in Lana, it was 38°C, up above, a pleasant 22°C. We took the cable car and chairlift up. The chairlift ride was relaxing. The peace and quiet, with only the occasional ringing of cowbells, was very soothing. Up above, there's an extensive hiking area with several places to stop for refreshments

Our actual visit was to the Castello Medioevale. Unfortunately it was closed. Perhaps already closed for the winter. The walk through the city was still nice despite the rain.

Day 5 was a leisurely hike through the forest with beautiful and interesting views of the Passeier Valley. Today, as it was the national holiday, there were few hikers around. The farm tavern in Ulfas is highly recommended.
