After all the rain of the last few days, it was a pretty muddy and slippery affair. Especially in the Annatal valley and later on the single trails. It gets really difficult on the narrow trail at the Drachensfels towards the end.
Take poles with you and wear waterproof shoes 👍🏼

The first section was wonderful to run, but from kilometer 1.5 onwards it became very icy. You should definitely have spikes and hiking poles with you in case of frost and black ice. Especially around the Löwenburger Hof and also along the single trails.

The first and last part from and to Rhöndorf is quite steep and slippery - especially in autumn when there are leaves. The rest of the route goes completely through the forest and is wonderful and not so crowded. You can stop off and have a bite to eat at the Löwenburger Hof.

A truly beautiful and varied trail. The paths are mostly made of sand or shells—something to consider when choosing your footwear.
There are lovely benches along the way for a rest or a picnic.
There's no shelter in case of rain.
