A lovely place to escape the city heat. Beautiful dragonflies and butterflies flutter along the river, and many bird nest entrances can be seen in the clay rim. Horses come to drink from the cool mountain water. A lovely excursion!

In the past, lead was mined in the area. Numerous entrances to long-abandoned shafts can be seen. The natural surroundings are beautiful and ideal for hiking. Since we were traveling with a small child, our walk was very short, and we joined the locals on a picnic blanket. Cars are parked everywhere

We couldn't walk along the canal in many places because the access was blocked off by security forces. I don't know if there was a special situation at the time or if the access is permanently closed. The park across the street was also closed.

Be careful, the path between Dennewitz and Leipa is not passable in places. At some point the path ended in the forest and I had to carry my bike over the bushes.
