We actually wanted to go to a hunting lodge in the area, but then it became too much for the dog and so we went back along the farm track. This resulted in the somewhat strange-looking route of the tour. But we enjoyed the way there along the cozy Soonwaldsteig.

The access roads to the Eschen district are deliberately not maintained. Red deer, which are sensitive to disturbance, are allowed to stay here, so the access is difficult. But it's worth it. You won't find any ash trees there. The word probably goes back to "oaks", pronounced "Äischen" in Hunsrück Low
