The beautiful Schloss Rothestein with a former cafe was bought by a GbR in 2018 and has been closed and decaying since then, which is a shame!

The Kalkhof of the von Scharfenberg family is located near Wanfried in the Werra valley. In 1945 the vodka-whiskey agreement between the Russians and the Americans was reached (area exchange). The Plesse tower was blocked on site.

That was the former official entrance to the castle. We already had to clear some branches from the street (private path). The storm low "Sabine" had rushed through the day before!

The ascent from the castle to the Hörne viewpoint was not without this time of year! The last 300m to the viewpoint were very difficult for us, because steep uphill, the rock of the slope was very damp and slippery, the path was hardly recognized by the blown leaves. The view from up there to Bad Soden Allendorf made up for it!
