The next stage takes us north from Salin de Giraud. A strong mistral wind only allows us to reach our minimal goal of Arles.
The Via Rhona is a well-maintained cycling route lined with flowers. We spend the rest of the day enjoying the old town of Arles.

Today's stage took us from Saintes Marie de la Mere via Seedaiche to Salin de Giraud. The landscape was very impressive, and we saw many birds and flowers.
On the stretches open to cars, the roads were very worn and riddled with potholes.

Today we rode against a constant southwest wind through vast, lonely landscapes, past horses, bulls, and many birds, including numerous flamingos.
Saintes Marie de la Mere is like a metropolis in the midst of solitude.

Our first day in Occitania begins in Avignon. We first follow a section of the Rhône and then cross the Alpilles. We visit the small town of Les Baux-de-Provence, watch the light show in the old quarry, and then continue on to Arles.

Our final leg takes us back toward Avignon. The Via Rhona is also perfectly paved on this section. With the Mistral wind once again strong, we transfer to the train halfway through. We're somewhat disappointed by the towns of Tarrascon and Beaucaire; aside from the fortress, there isn't much to see.
