The circular hiking trail, starting at the Baldenau Castle ruins, runs through the open countryside, across meadows and field paths, around Hinzerath.
Highlights include the former Baldenau moated castle and the Arnika Loop through the spring moor in the upper Dhron Valley.

I made a conscious decision not to start in Manderscheid for the start of the "Grafschaft Path"; instead, we started in Laufeld. Starting in the town center with parking facilities at the village square and church, it is only a few hundred meters until you reach the circular hiking trail.
