A stay on the ice sheet is quite impressive. At the edge of the ice it is very thin - it is interspersed with all kinds of earth and stone material carried along and you can see the debris underground through the ice. Small and bigger meltwater streams make their way through the icy landscape. With walking sticks you are well equipped on the smooth ground and able to climb the small panoramic icebergs.
