Vandring
The Lauerturm (Lure Tower), crowned with battlements, has stood at the northern corner of the city wall since 1570. It was added to the old 14th-century wall as part of a comprehensive refortification of the city. With its loopholes, it not only served as a fortification but also served as a "Luginsland" (lookout point) – providing a view over the city and surrounding countryside.

The Lauerturm (Lauer Tower) is a landmark of the city and the last remaining tower of the northern city fortifications.
The "Lauer" in the name Lauerturm (Lauer Tower) doesn't come from "to lie in wait" (Auflauern) (to lurk), but from "Lauge" (lye), formerly "Laue" (water), which the tannery next door used to use.
