Bruneau Dunes State Park

Bruneau Dunes State Park is home to North America's tallest single-structured sand dune, rising 470 feet (143 meters) above the desert floor. Unlike most dunes, these are remarkably stable, formed over 12,000 years by balanced winds within a natural basin. The park also features two lakes, Big Lake and Small Lake, which are a more recent phenomenon, formed by a rise in the water table due to irrigation along the Snake River.
