In the 11th century, the monastery was converted into a canon's monastery and experienced a great time until finally in 1528 by a state parliament resolution under Margrave George the Pious, the church together with the Margraviate of Ansbach joined the Evangelical-Lutheran Reformation. This began not only in Gumbertus, but also in the Margraviate of a distinguished and proven history of Evangelical-Lutheran faith to this day.
