Beginning in mid-May through the early fall there are daily train services to Denali National Park from Anchorage and Fairbanks. Traveling by train to Denali is a unique experience and the free shuttle busses around the park to various trailheads and points of interest make the park accessible without a car. Between 1917, when the park was first established, to 1971, when the Parks Highway was completed, the only way to access Denali was via train. Even if you did not take a train to the park, the large train depot is still a worthwhile stop near the park entrance.
