Barberino Val d'Elsa is surrounded by massive fortification walls in the northwestern Chianti region. The medieval center of the pretty village of Barberino Val d'Elsa was built around a strategically located castle.
The city gates and defense towers point to a turbulent past.
The nature around Barberino Val d'Elsa is characterized by the rolling hills of the Chianti, made of wine, olives and cypress trees, and turns into a wild, rocky and wooded landscape.
