The Sassi Ritti complex, located near San Piero in Campo on the Island of Elba, is an ancient megalithic site composed of four aniconic menhirs originally arranged along a north-south axis, probably linked to a solar cult.
Dating back to the Middle-Recent Neolithic (3rd-2nd millennium BC), the site is a rare testimony of Elban megalithism, similar to the "filarate" of Corsica and Sardinia. Sardinian obsidian tools have been found in the area, suggesting a link with the Neolithic communities of Monte Arci, in Sardinia. From the plateau there is a magnificent view of the Island of Montecristo.
