Det gamle rådhus i Filsen er et af de få bevarede bindingsværkshuse, der er bygget over en port. Dets bindingsværk bærer årstallet 1611. Porten og underbygningen er dog sandsynligvis meget ældre. En voldgrav gik herfra uden for landsbyen til Rhinen.
Heraf løb også den eneste kørebane til Osterspai samt kørevejen over Rheinhöhe, som romerne allerede brugte. Med porten blev landsbyen lukket om natten...
